Officials in Great Neck, New York voted this week to ban the hanging of laundry on lines in front lawns, making it a violation punishable by up to $1,000 and 15 days in jail.

Officials say it was becoming a problem and promise to go after the next big issue facing this village: living room couches on front porches, reports CBS New York.

Some residents say they never realized couches on front porches were a problem.

Resident Martha Curtis told CBS New York: “The whole time I’ve been here, I’ve never seen that. That’s a surprise."

“I’ve never seen couches on front porches. This is funny to me.”
