A former middle school teacher has been sentenced to five years in prison for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female student.

Former middle school teacher Chelsea Rose, 24, was sentenced to the prison term in a Marshall County, Kentucky court on Nov. 2.

The sentencing occurred after Rose pled guilty to charges of first-degree attempted unlawful transaction with a minor and third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor on Sept. 21.

Circuit Judge Dennis Foust, who handed the sentence down, said the woman would have to complete a two-year treatment program before being eligible for parole. She would also have to register as a sex offender as part of her sentence, the Paducah Sun originally reported according to the Daily Mail.

Foust reportedly denied the former teacher's request for probation or another more lenient alternative to jail time.

The charges against Rose stemmed from her alleged sexual relations with a female student at Reidland Middle School in Paducah, Kentucky, where Rose was a seventh grade reading teacher and cheerleading coach.

Rose, who is married, was arrested in February after another student at the school reported seeing the teacher engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with the 14-year-old victim.

An investigation into the incident revealed that Rose had been having sexual relations with the student for a month. The former teacher allegedly brought the girl and two other minors to her home in Marshall County, where she supplied them with alcohol and had sexual contact with the 14-year-old.

In an interview with police, Rose admitted to kissing and touching the girl inappropriately at a drive-in and giving her alcohol, according to WPSD.

She is also accused of sending sexually explicit Facebook messages to the girl, which has resulted in another charge of using an electronic communication device to procure sex with a minor.

She is expected to be sentenced for that offense in McCracken County on Nov. 19 after entering a guilty plea in August. Any additional prison time she receives from that sentencing, which could be up to three years, will be served concurrently with her five-year sentence for the unlawful transaction convictions.

All of Rose's sexual interactions with the student took place outside of school hours, WPSD reported on February 6, around the time of the woman's initial arrest. There have been no allegations of sex between Rose and any other minors.
