A 17-year-old in Florida was charged with murder after police found his mother beaten and stabbed to death on Christmas Eve in their Gulf Breeze home.

Three hours after his mother’s body was discovered with a knife still sticking out of her eye socket, William Brandon Aydelott was found at a neary house.

Sharon Aydelott was beaten with a baseball bat, stabbed multiple times and her throat slashed.

Police responded to a call at 6 p.m. Tuesday, after someone stopped by the house and discovered the body. Authorities found blood on the outside of the front door. Aydelott’s body why lying just inside.

When police found her son, the 17-year-old was wearing clean clothing, but there was a spot of blood on his wrist.

When police questioned him, he calmly confessed, according to Northwest Florida Daily News.

The teen reportedly moved out of his mother’s home in September after their relationship grew strained.

“It’s just heartbreaking for the family. You just wonder what’s in a young person’s mind to do something like that,” a neighbor, Loree Rhodes, told Fox 10 TV.

“It just shows the state of our times I guess. There’s so much violence and that’s sad too,” Rhodes said.

Sharon Aydelott was a science teacher at Holley-Navarre Middle School, where she worked since 1998.

“This is a sad day for that family,” said Tim Wyrosdick, superintendent of Santa Rosa County schools.
