Florida Man William Wilson Buys $96,000 Home At An Auction Only To Find A Dead Body In The Master Bedroom

Imagine this: you’ve just purchased a $96,000 home and you decide to go over for a routine check-up. You mow the lawn, trim the hedges and enter the house with a sense of excitement and pride. Upon entering, you notice a pungent and unforgiving smell.

The smell lingers throughout the house, ultimately leading you to the master bedroom where you find a dead body so deteriorated that you cannot even distinguish who it is or if it’s male or female.

This was the unfortunate reality for William Wilson, who bought a house in Cape Coral, Florida, at an auction of all places.

Wilson described his findings to News-Press. He said the house was a mess and it looked like someone was getting ready to move out. There were boxes everywhere, a bird cage, a pile of feces in the living room and pictures of children on the refrigerator. Authorities learned the most recent piece of mail was from November 2011 and noticed that property taxes had not been paid in three years.

Neighbors say the last person to occupy the house on SE 19th Lane was an older woman from Miami and her sister. Next-door neighbor Gary Oben, 30, told News-Press that the woman was nice but didn’t speak much english and lived mostly in seclusion. “It’s disappointing and a sad thing that nobody cared enough to check,” Wilson told News-Press.

Public Records indicate the home was previously owned by a Carmen Garcia-Viso. Florida police are currently investigating the matter. Oben tells News-Press he had a “hunch.” He said, “Either it was a grow house or there was a dead lady in there.”
