Florida Man Claims Arrest For Beating Pregnant Girlfriend is Obama’s Fault

A drunk Florida man decided to play the “blame Obama" card after he was accused of beating his girlfriend in public. He claims his arrest was unfair because “Obama said cops always listen to women.”

John Shiffner, 18, was arrested after he allegedly battered his pregnant girlfriend, 30-year-old Lakesha Tolbert, on a public street in Escambia County.

Tolbert told police that Shiffner pushed her to the ground and had been drinking all day because "he was upset about a death in the family,” according to the sheriff’s report.

Soon enough, Shiffner was placed under arrest and loaded into the back of a patrol car.

The officer at that point began questioning Shiffner, and the 18-year-old then went on his Obama rant.

“[Shiffner] stated that he did not touch [Tolbert] and then began rambling on about how Obama is right,” according to the sheriff’s report filed by Deputy Matthew Bevins. “[He] stated ‘Obama said cops always listen to women.'”

Even though the smell of alcohol was reportedly all over him, Shiffner also “denied drinking any alcohol tonight and then refused to state where he had obtained it.”

Obama’s fault or not, Shiffner was charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor disorderly intoxication. He remains in jail on a $3,500 bond and is awaiting a November 8 court date.
