A Florida man has been charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death in front of his daughter on Mother’s Day weekend.
Michael Finn, 46, has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife as well as violating his probation, according to WFTV.
The incident began on Saturday afternoon when deputies responded to a domestic violence call in Lakeland.
Upon arriving on the scene, the deputies found Kristen Finn, 34, running to a neighbor’s house with stab wounds.
Pursuing her was Michael Finn, who was holding a knife at the time.
A deputy says that he saw Michael stabbing his wife again after chasing her down.
“The violent death this mother suffered is unthinkable,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a press release. “But the fact that the murder occurred in front of a child during Mother’s Day weekend is horrific. Michael Finn is in jail where he belongs and we will work to ensure he never leaves and never gets another chance to victimize innocent people.”
The couple’s daughter, 15, had reportedly been on the back patio of their home when the fight began. She allegedly witnessed the incident unfold in front of her.
Michael reportedly threw a baseball at Kristen and punched her in the face during the altercation. Kristen and the daughter then went from the patio to the front yard and called police. After a short period of time, Michael began to chase after Kristen while holding a kitchen knife, WFTV reports. During the fight, Michael fatally stabbed Kristen.
She was transported to a nearby hospital where she died from her wounds.
According to the NY Daily News, Michael had been on probation after being convicted in 2013 of making threats.
He has reportedly been charged with first-degree murder and violation of probation and is being held without bond.
