A 29-year-old Florida man was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty after he reportedly hanged his 18-month-old pit bull from a tree, then dragged his dead body behind an ATV, all because the dog "made a mess" in his trailer.
Victor Solano reportedly committed the crime on Wednesday after he found his dog had made a mess inside of his home. He apparently couldn't find a gun to shoot the dog, so he went around and asked neighbors for one -- and also allegedly admitted to them what he planned on doing with the firearm, reports the New York Daily News.
When he failed to procure a gun, Solano reportedly used rope instead and tied his dog to a tree. Police say he then dragged the dog's corpse behind an ATV and threw it into a pond. His neighbors said they saw the dog hanging from the tree prior to his removal.
Police reportedly recovered the pit bull's remains and took them to animal control.
Solano has allegedly been arrested at least six times since 2005 for battery domestic violence, burglary and larceny, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was previously sentenced to five years in prison for burglary and larceny.
The suspect is the third person within 24 hours to be charged with animal abuse in the Tampa Bay area. On Wednesday, a female pit bull was reportedly found tied to railroad tracks after being shot three times. She lost her right leg but is reportedly expected to survive. Kanin Grant, 28, was also arrested and charged with animal cruelty on Wednesday after reportedly kicking his puppy so hard it suffered a broken leg and hemorrhaged eyes.
