A former mixed martial arts fighter, on trial for attempted murder and assault, earned the ire of a judge when he blew a kiss to a female prosecutor during a court hearing.
Jonathan Koppenhaver, 33, made the gesture during a Nov. 23 pretrial hearing as his attorneys were arguing that the victim, a porn star named Christy Mackinday, had a history of making false rape allegations, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. Chief Deputy District Attorney Jacqueline Bluth stopped the conversation and addressed the judge.
"Judge, for the record, Mr. Koppenhaver just blew a kiss at me," Bluth said, according to the Review-Journal.
When Koppenhaver's attorney, Brandon Sua, said he didn't see his client blow the kiss, Bluth said she was "not going to make up that he blew a kiss at me, which I find offensive."

That prompted Judge Elissa Cadish to reprimand the former MMA fighter and jealous boyfriend, whose alleged 2014 rampage against Mackinday and a male acquaintance landed him behind bars with two attempted murder charges and five counts of felony sexual assault.
"Mr. Koppenhaver, stop," Cadish told the petulant former fighter, who legally changed his name to War Machine in 2008. "You are not to make any gestures of any kind toward counsel. Don't go there."
It's not the first time Koppenhaver interrupted court hearings. During a June 3 hearing, the California native blurted out a request for a polygraph test, which the judge denied. During another hearing in November of 2014, Koppenhaver laughed and shook his head as Mackinday described his alleged violent outburts, the Daily Mail reported.
Koppenhaver was best known as a mixed martial arts welterweight before he met Mack, with most of his fights in small regional promotions. His one fight on MMA's main stage, the UFC, ended when he submitted to an anaconda choke after just 56 seconds in the first round. Taking up pornography as a side job, Koppenhaver met and began a relationship with the 24-year-old Mackinday.

In August of 2014, the jealous fighter attacked Mackinday and her friend, Corey Thomas, in Mackinday's Las Vegas home. Accusing Mackinday of cheating on him, Koppenhaver allegedly choked and punched Thomas, then pursued Mackinday into a bathroom, attacking her along the way, the Review-Journal reported.
In all, Koppenhaver was charged with 34 counts of assault after breaking Mackinday's nose, knocking out several of her teeth, and breaking several bones and a rib.
During the Nov. 23 hearing, Koppenhaver's attorneys unsuccessfully argued that because Mackinday is an adult actress whose work included filming rough sex, the former MMA fighter had "consent" for "a particular form of sex activities that were outside of the norm."
"The jury needs to know the nature of this relationship, and what was customary and consensual," Sua told reporters outside the courtroom.
Prosecutors were skeptical of that claim.
"I don't see how any of those activities that she did in adult movies would ever show her consent to the acts with the defendant that he's charged with," Cadish said, according to the Review-Journal. "I'm not seeing that connection."
