Ferguson Key Witness Wanted For Ties To Robbery In Jefferson City

| by Lisa Fogarty

The most prominent witness in the Michael Brown case has a warrant out for his arrest in Jefferson City, Missouri, reports ABC 17 News.

Dorian Johnson, 22, was walking with Brown in Ferguson on the day they were stopped by police. He reportedly watched as Officer Darren Wilson shot the 18-year-old six times, killing him and creating chaos in Ferguson, which has since been the site of numerous protests, looting incidents and arrests.

Police have learned that Johnson’s warrant is for stealing in June 2011. ABC 17 News also researched the man’s criminal history and discovered he was reportedly charged with filing a false police report in 2011.

Brown’s friend told cops that the officer who shot him grabbed Brown around the neck and tried to pull him into his police vehicle. He claims Brown never attempted to take Wilson’s gun from him and that the officer pursued the teen and shot him in the back. He says Brown then turned around and faced the cop with his hands raised, reports USA Today.

A medical examiner’s report did not match up with Johnson’s account.

A source from the police department recently told Fox News that Wilson was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown before he shot him. The officer was responding to a call in the neighborhood when he reportedly spotted Brown and Johnson and demanded they get out of the road because they were blocking vehicles from passing.

“They ignored him and the officer started to get out of the car to tell them to move,” the source said. “They shoved him right back in. That’s when Michael Brown leans in and starts beating Officer Wilson in the head and the face.”

He says Brown “charged” Wilson, and that the officer fatally shot him in self-defense.
