A female student at William Paterson University was allegedly attacked and held captive by five male students in their dorm room, where she was forced to perform sex acts.

The young woman reported the incident last week, saying that the men attacked her in the Overlook South residence hall and then took her to their dorm room. It was there that they made her engage in sexual activity and then refused to let her leave the room.

The five male students, who lived on campus, are all 18 years old and are now facing a string of charges including aggravated criminal sexual contact and kidnapping. According to the Daily Mail, “court documents show that the five men arrested were Noah Williams, Garrett Collick, Termaine Scott, Jahmel Latimer and Darius Singleton.”

According to NorthJersey.com, the criminal complaint filed against the five students claimed that Latimer pulled the woman by the hair and forced her to perform sex acts on him with the lights off, while the other four students blocked the girl and the door to their room to ensure that she wouldn’t try to escape. The complaint reads that the group put the victim “in a condition of involuntary servitude.”

Kathleen Waldron, president of William Paterson, released a statement in response to the incident and said that the five students have been barred from campus.

“My deepest concern is for the victim of this criminal act who has courageously stepped forward to take legal action and seek justice,” Waldron’s statement read. No expression of anger or sadness on my part can alleviate the harm done to the victim and my heart goes out to her and her family.”
