Police Search For Man Who Punched Wawa Customer For 'Ogling' His Daughter

| by Lisa Fogarty

The father of a teenage girl didn’t like the way a man was ogling his daughter at a Wawa in Philadelphia – so he knocked him out with a punch.

Police are searching for the “overprotective” dad, whom they say punched the man in the face for admiring his daughter while the two stepped into a Wawa convenience store Sunday, reports the Daily News. The victim, 47, says he was ordering a sandwich at a touch-screen kiosk when the man accused him of looking at his daughter the wrong way and then hit him. The father and his little girl then reportedly took off in a four-door car that police believe was a Ford.

The victim was taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital to be treated for a cut and a possible concussion, reports Philly.com.

Although his intentions may have been honorable, this father’s actions certainly were not, according to police.

“If somebody’s looking at your daughter, why don’t you confront him instead of punching him?” said Michael Chitwood, superintendent of the Upper Darby Police Department. “This guy’s not an overprotective father … That’s just his excuse for thumping the guy.”

Police have asked that anyone with information regarding this crime call 610-734-7693.
