Robert Chesters of Connecticut was arrested for first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after he drugged his 12-year-old daughter so he could have sex with her friend, also 12.
Chesters, 42, and the victim had reportedly been sleeping together since August, and the two sent text messages back and forth.
One text, sent in early September, read, “I am so lost without you :-( [name withheld] is gone next weekend And [name withheld] will have Benadryl so you can lay with me comfortably and love me."
Another text read, “I love you so much and I am glad I love you so much as I do sometimes I wish I didn’t love you as much as I do so I would not worry about you leaving … you told me to trust you and I am but admittedly I do get worried you will find somebody much better and much better looking and obviously younger and I cannot wait to see you tonight as my girlfriend/lover either. Bob.”
Chesters denied having sex with the girl. However, another text message indicates otherwise: “When we made love last night your heart really showed through everything. Your heart is all I need making love to you is just a wonderful beautiful bonus. I love you so much baby and I cannot wait to see and hold you again. Bob.”
“Bob” was busted after one of the girl’s friends saw the messages and told school officials, who contacted law enforcement.
When police arrived to arrest Chesters, he was passed out in his vehicle with a suicide note. He was admitted to the hospital, and then arrested upon recovery.
The victim reportedly told her mother that Chesters had also tried to kill himself the day after one of their sexual encounters; allegedly, he took an entire bottle of pills, presumably out of self-loathing for his actions.
