Florida man Juan Gonzalez was charged with two counts of battery this week after he beat up the man accused of killing his son.

Gonzalez beat up John Powers, his son’s alleged killer, in a bathroom right outside of the local courthouse. They had just concluded a hearing in which Powers was charged with DUI manslaughter in the death of Juan Gonzalez Jr.

After following Powers and a friend into the bathroom, Gonzalez reportedly said “You killed my son. I will be watching you.”

Powers’ friend Jay Israel told authorities Gonzalez grabbed him by the neck and shoved him before turning his attention to Powers. He then repeatedly struck Powers and knocked him to the ground, Powers emerged from the restroom with blood dripping from his ear.

Here is what Powers’ looked like after the assault:

Powers and his friend immediately went back into the courthouse and reported the assault. Authorities detained Gonzalez before he could leave the scene and immediately charged him with two battery charges. This isn’t Gonzalez’ first run in with the law. In 2006, he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to three years probation.

Powers, meanwhile, was charged with DUI manslaughter and manslaughter with an unlawful blood alcohol level on Monday. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently free on $20,000 bond. According to a police report, Powers was making a u-turn in his Jeep when he struck and killed Gonzalez Jr. Gonzalez was riding his motorcycle when he was hit.

After police arrived on the scene, they picked up a strong scent of alcohol on Powers’ breath and noticed several empty beer cans in the back of his car. He blew a .15 on a BAC test, which all but seals his fate in his upcoming trial.
