Father Charged After 4-Month-Old Daughter Dies From Injuries (Video)

| by Dominic Kelly

A four-month-old baby has died, and now, her 22-year-old father has been charged for neglecting her injuries.

According to reports, Bryan Michel of South Bend, Indiana has been charged with felony neglect of a dependent after he failed to seek medical attention for his daughter’s injuries. On July 10, Michel and four-month-old Halo’s mother called 911 to report that she wasn’t breathing. It was discovered that she had suffered a massive brain injury, skull fractures, and bleeding behind her eyes. Halo was on life support until her death on Saturday morning.

When investigators questioned Michel about the circumstances behind the baby’s injuries, he reportedly gave them two different stories. One story was that the couple’s other children accidentally dropped her on her head, and the other story was that Michel himself accidentally fell on her while giving her a bath.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

Michel apparently has no criminal record besides one arrest for not paying child support, but family members say that he may have abused Halo. Doctors say that the four-month-old had some broken ribs that were in various stages of healing, which could be a sign that he had been abusing the infant.

“Let’s just say I’m pretty damned upset,” said a neighbor. “I love kids. You don’t beat them. You just don’t beat them. That’s awful. Kids are our future.”

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, and currently, Michel is being held on $100,000 cash bail or $1 million corporate surety bond.
