Autopsy results showed that Colker “died as a result of extensive skull fracture and asphyxia."

On Jan. 25, Dave Martin Benjamin surrendered himself to authorities and allegedly admitted to committing the murder, the Daily News notes. Benjamin, an ex-convict, was recently released from prison. Police said the suspect has yet to be charged, and he is cooperating with the investigation, according to NBC News.

Colker was reportedly a licensed physician’s assistant and anesthesiologist with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time,” the hospital said in a statement.
