A high school choir teacher in Washington has been arrested after she was accused of sleeping with a student.
Olivia Sondheim, 25, has been arrested after she allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old male student. Sondheim has been charged with first-degree sexual assault misconduct with a minor, according to the Daily Mail.
Sondheim, who married her husband in 2014, had been teaching choir at Lynnwood High School in Washington for over a year, and was in her second year of teaching when the alleged misconduct was uncovered. Debbie Joyce Jakala, a spokeswoman for Edmonds School District, said that Sondheim had passed a background check before she had been hired.
"There was nothing to indicate that she couldn’t be working in our school," Jakala said, reported KGMI.

Administrators learned about the alleged misconduct in October and told a school resource officer, who then brought the case to police, according to The Seattle Times.
The victim, who is now 17, was enrolled in a class that Sondheim taught when the abuse allegedly occurred.
"During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect and victim developed a relationship which, over time, became sexual," said a spokesperson for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
Sondheim was arrested on Oct. 12, after police arrived at her home with a search warrant.
Sondheim has reportedly been booked into the Snohomish County Jail. Her name is still listed on the school district website as a staff member.
On the same web page, Sondheim wrote a message to students in which she said she was "excited to get to know each and every one of you."
