Jeremy Schwer pleaded guilty to molesting his cancer-stricken daughter, but he won’t spend any time in prison.

Schwer, 41, began abusing his daughter when he and his now-estranged wife, Arpana Schwer, started taking turns caring for her at night, Indy Star reported.

Deputy Prosecutor Courtney Curtis asked that Schwer spend nine years in prison and be placed on probation for an additional three years.  Arpana, however, asked that he be spared jail time so he could financially support their children in the wake of their divorce proceedings - the couple has two children together.

At the time of the molestation the victim was 6 and she told her mother that her father had touched her “peepeluca,” the family’s word for private parts, and her father “had her sit on his ‘cat tail.’” The victim, who is now 7, said her father told her not to tell anyone or he would go to jail.

Scwher will be on probation for 12 years and must register as a sex offender. He has also been required to move out of his family’s home so Arpana and their children can move in. The home contains a princess castle, which the family obtained through the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Although the victim still has a brain tumor, it hasn’t shown any growth and she is recovering from treatment that included chemotherapy, Heavy reported. Schwer was fired after his arrest, but he recently obtained a new job and his lawyer, John W. Campbell, said his client was devoted to supporting his family.

Curtis was unhappy with the sentence and said she “completely” disagrees with it, but that she understands why Arpana asked Schwer be spared prison. "This is the most horrific circumstance of a child molest case that I’ve ever seen," she said.
