Elementary School Teacher Malia Brooks Accused of Sex with Student Under 14 (Video)

Elementary school teacher and divorced mother-of-two, Malia Brooks, has been charged for various sex acts performed on a boy from her school (video below).

Brooks turned herself into a police station in Simi Valley, Calif., on Tuesday.

She plead not guilty on Wednesday in a Ventura County court and was hit with a $2 million bail, which is a larger amount than some murderers receive.

The 32-year-old teacher was charged with one count of a lewd act upon a child, one count of oral copulation of a person under 14 and three counts of genital penetration by a foreign object with a person under 14 years of age.

The student was a boy under the age of 14, Police Detective Casey Nicholson said at a news conference on Wednesday morning, reports KTLA-TV.

According to NBC Los Angeles, Brooks has taught the sixth grade at Garden Grove Elementary School since 2004. Most recently, she taught at the school's Impact Academy.

The Simi Valley School District informed the police about the alleged relationship on February 22. Brooks was removed from the school immediately and later resigned.

Police have not released anymore information about the allegations against Brooks.

Brooks' attorney said she was suffering from a mental illness and is receiving treatment.

Garden Grove Elementary School has provided counseling for any children affected by the news.
