Elderly Substitute Teacher Arrested For Masturbating In Front Of Students

| by Sarah Fruchtnicht

A Connecticut substitute teacher was caught on school surveillance masturbating as students walked by a stairwell, police said.

A teaching assistant at Westhill High School in Stamford caught the man in the act early Wednesday and reported him to police.

Michael Luecke, 72, was arrested and charged with public indecency, breach of the peace and risk of injury to a minor.

"He had a clean criminal history and he's not on any sexual registry," Lt. Diedrich Hohn told the Daily News.

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

A teaching assistant found Luecke on the ground in a stairwell at 7:33 a.m. and thought he was injured. When she approached, he allegedly had his pants open and was touching his penis, police said.

The woman yelled at him and he fled the scene.

“The principal took immediate action and called the police,” said Sharon Beadle, public affairs officer for Stamford Public Schools.

Luecke was later found by resource officers in a classroom where he was working with students.

"Video surveillance was found showing Luecke ... in a corner of a stairwell in the Rayner building suspiciously manipulating the front of his pants while looking at students in the courtyard," police said.

Six students passed his location while he masturbated.

Beadle says he’s been a long-time substitute in the district without any complaints.

Luecke is being held on $25,000 bond. No court date was released.
