Police in Panama have released disturbing video footage of the moment a man was shot in the back of the head as he was eating at a fast food restaurant in the capital, Panama City.

The shocking CCTV footage shows the gunman walk in to the Tiriton restaurant and shoot Dutchman Jacob Van Der Hart, 35, in the back of the head at point black range, according to the Daily Mail.

Van Der Hart, who can be seen sitting across the table from Colombian man Humberto Antonio Acosta, topples to one side and falls on the floor.

The suspected hired hitman then walks out of the restaurant and climbs onto the back of a motorbike that was waiting for him outside to make his escape, police said.

Miraculously, Van Der Hart survived, but he is now fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Panama City, the Daily Mirror reports.

No arrests have been made in the case as of yet and police in the Central American country have released the CCTV footage in their hunt for the man who committed the crime.

A similar incident occurred at the end of December, when another Dutchman was killed in the same neighborhood, The Telegraph reports.

In that case, the victim, Halid Jaffats, was shot while walking into a nightclub. Police believe the murder was linked to organized crime.
