Footage of a man crushing piglets to death at a farm in Huercal-Overa in Spain was broadcast using a smartphone app and the gruesome video (below) has gone viral.
The piglets were herded into a narrow walkway as they were being transferred from one part of the farm to another, at which point an unidentified man stepped jumped onto the trapped animals and threw his weight onto them, a spokesman for Spain's police force, Guardia Civil, told the Mirror in a statement.
“That act caused the immediate deaths of 19 piglets and another 53 were injured and subsequently died.”
The man in the video did not attempt to cover his face, but the video was later posted on WhatsApp, a mobile messaging service.
“The farm manager alerted us and the alleged wrongdoers, a 19 year-old and a 22-year-old, were identified and located after officers had watched the footage,” the statement read, according the Daily Mail.
Although the suspects were identified as Spaniard and a Lithuanian, it’s unclear which of the two men is accused of crushing the piglets, although the suspect was apparently a farm worker.
So far, no charges have been filed.
