Deputy Jimmy Drummond Brutalizes Family, Caught on Dashcam Video

A shocking video released today shows Deputy Jimmy Drummond engaging in physical violence against several members of the Scherz family on Sept. 10, 2011.

At the time of the incident, Drummond was a deputy with one of eight elected constables for Harris County, Texas. He is no longer employed as a deputy.

According to investigators, Drummond followed David Scherz Jr. home because he was allegedly speeding,

The dashcam video (below) shows Drummond kicking Scherz Jr., who is held down on the street by other law enforcement officers, whose names were not released.

KHOU reports that Scherz Jr. suffered broken ribs, David Scherz Sr. ended up with a bruised face and the unidentified mom was dragged by Drummond on the street.

Drummond was charged today with official oppression. No word on why it took two years for prosecutors to charge him.

The Huffington Post notes that the criminal complaint states Drummond "[dropped] his knee and placed his body weight on the complainant [then-suspect David Scherz Jr.]... [wiped] his shoe on the back of the complainant's shirt" and grabbed and pulled back his head, all while the man was "handcuffed and face-down on the ground."
