Darren Wilson Will Not Receive Severance Package From Ferguson

Former Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson will not receive a severance package after resigning from the local police department

According to ABC News, Mayor James Knowles announced on Sunday that Wilson will not get a payout of any sort from Ferguson – including any type of benefits.

Wilson, 28, announced his resignation from the Ferguson Police Department on Saturday afternoon. He cited concerns for the safety of other officers on the force as his main motivation for stepping down.

There was some speculation that he received money or a promise of money at a later date to call it quits, but that rumor has been dispelled with today’s announcement.

A Missouri grand jury decided not to indict Wilson earlier this week for the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown, citing a lack of evidence that the former Ferguson cop did anything wrong.
