An advertisement for Father's Day recently appeared in the Daily Mirror newspaper, right next to an over-dramatic story that screamed the headline '1 In 4 Women Will Be Beaten By Husbands.'
Ironically, the Daily Mirror was launched in 1903 by Lord Northcliffe as a newspaper for women.
Northcliffe reportedly said at the time: “I intend it to be really a mirror of feminine life as well on its grave as on its lighter sides….to be entertaining without being frivolous, and serious without being dull.”
It certainly isn't dull.
