'Daily Mirror' Newspaper Places Father's Day Ad Next to Spousal Abuse Story

| by Michael Allen

An advertisement for Father's Day recently appeared in the Daily Mirror newspaper, right next to an over-dramatic story that screamed the headline '1 In 4 Women Will Be Beaten By Husbands.'

Ironically, the Daily Mirror was launched in 1903 by Lord Northcliffe as a newspaper for women.

Northcliffe reportedly said at the time: “I intend it to be really a mirror of feminine life as well on its grave as on its lighter sides….to be entertaining without being frivolous, and serious without being dull.”

It certainly isn't dull.

Offensive, but not dull.
