A father and son from Chicago were both arrested on charges related to the alleged sexual assault of an Illinois State University student.
Shawn Childs Jr., 19, and his father, Shawn Childs Sr., attended an orientation event called Preview at ISU on July 19, the Chicago Tribune reported.
At the event, Childs Sr. had offered to purchase alcohol for underaged students, according to a statement by McLean County First Assistant State's Attorney Adam Ghrist.
The alleged victim told police she saw Childs Sr. put a pill in her soda. She then drank the soda.

Ghrist told the court the victim felt ill and returned to her room. That’s when Childs Jr. followed her, raped her twice and barred her from leaving the room, she says. The victim reported the attack the following morning.
Both men were arrested on July 20 while getting ready to board a train back to Chicago. Childs Sr. had 22 ecstasy pills in his pocket at the time he was arrested, Ghrist said.

Childs Jr. admitted to police the victim was “messed up” at the time of assault. He is facing four counts of criminal sexual assault, while his father is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Childs Sr. also previously faced convictions for attempted murder, domestic battery and weapon charges, the Daily Mail reported.
Their arraignment is scheduled for July 29.
