A couple from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, have been arrested and charged with child neglect after they reportedly strapped their 7-month-old baby into a bicycle trailer attached to their moped so they could drive to Taco Bell -- during last Sunday's tropical storm.

Bianca Allen, 18, and Mark Cherry, 21, were each given a $5,000 bond and were released from jail on May 11 after a South Carolina Highway Patrol officer stopped the couple and removed the baby from the trailer, which was attached to the moped by a one-inch nylon stap, Carolina Alive reports. The strap was also torn three-quarters of the way through and the moped had two flat tires, according to Horry County police.

When questioned about where they were going during Tropical Storm Ana, Allen and Cherry told police they had just returned from Taco Bell. Allen told authorities the baby was buckled up and she wasn't aware that it was illegal to transport a child in the trailer, WYFF News 4 reports.

The child's grandmother reportedly arrived at the scene to take the baby home with her. The Department of Social Services searched the couple's home and found it to be clean and filled with food and diapers. DSS has recommended that Allen not be allowed to visit her baby unsupervised.
