A Michigan man charged with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy told detectives that it’s the children that are attracted to him and are the “ones who want to ‘do it’ with him.”

Jason Michael Spencer, 27, admitted to sexually assaulting the boy in 63rd District Court on June 2, but said the child “actually had approached him” and that the boy “‘wanted it,’” according to a probable cause affidavit.

"Jason said he constantly has to stop himself from having sexual contact with kids because they tend to seek him out,'' Kent County Sheriff's Detective Joel Roon wrote in the affidavit. "Jason said he doesn't understand the justice system as it pertains to this type of case because he didn't feel that he should be prosecuted for this since these kids are the ones who want to 'do it' with him.''

Spencer had already been sent to prison two years ago for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old boy left in his care, The Detroit Free Press reported.

He is also serving time for breaking into a Kentwood home with the help of a 13-year-old boy. Spencer also broke into another home in Union Court, Wyoming. He was sentenced between two to 20 years for the two home invasions.

Police say Spencer’s most recent charges stem from sexual assaults that took place sometime between August and October 2012. The 10-year-old boy disclosed the assaults while being interviewed at the Children’s Assessment Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Spencer is a cousin of a man the victim’s mother was dating at the time. The boy said Spencer touched him inappropriately while they watched the movie “A Christmas Story,” reports MLive. The boy said he fell asleep and when he woke up, Spencer was assaulting him, according to court documents.

Detectives tracked Spencer down at the state prison in Marquette, Michigan, where he was serving time for his previous crimes.

Spencer is now in Kent County Jail on a $1 million bond. He could face life in prison if convicted of first-degree sexual conduct.
