Colorado Mom Beats Innocent Man Accused Of Child Molestation To Death With Baseball Bat

A Colorado woman was sentenced to 38 years in prison on Friday after she beat a man to death with a baseball bat because she wrongly suspected him of molesting her child.

Forsythia Owen told authorities that after her 4-year-old daughter reported that Denzel Rainey had touched and sexually abused her, Owen struck Rainey repeatedly with a Louisville Slugger bat as he was sleeping in an alley.

Initially, Owen’s friends encouraged her to report the allegations to police. Owen, who has a history of mental illness and run-ins with the law, decided to take matters into her own hands instead.

Rainey was found with a skull fracture, cuts to his head, a broken left arm, six broken ribs, a laceration to the liver and a left testicle hemorrhage. He later died at a hospital.

According to authorities, Owen's accusations against Rainey were unfounded and she had no evidence to support them.

“Rainey was not guilty of any of those acts,” District Court Judge Marilyn Leonard Antrim said. “His memory should not be tarnished.”

Owen was convicted of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and tampering with evidence.
