Cheryl Dudley was recently arrested and charged with child abuse for allegedly leaving a loaded rifle in her baby's crib and forcing her children to live inside a home covered with feces.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, neighbors in St. Peters, Missouri called police on Monday after they saw Dudley’s 22-month-old daughter tied to her garage with a rope.
After arriving on the scene, police found narcotics in a dresser drawer, a loaded rifle in a crib, flea bites and dog scratches on the 22-month-old child.
Authorities said there were dog feces, cigarettes and mold throughout the home, as well as dirty diapers in the basement.
Dudley was charged with seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of child abuse. She has also failed to appear in court for some previous drug-related cases.
Dudley claimed the rifle was in the crib because she had heard noises in her backyard, but forgot to take the gun out. She also has a 7-year-old child.
