Chef David Viens Kills and Cooks Wife Dawn Viens for 4 Days

| by Michael Allen

Chef David Viens is on trial for his wife Dawn's murder in Los Angeles. This week jurors heard a recording of David Viens telling police that he cooked his wife's body in boiling water so that authorities couldn't find it: "I just slowly cooked it and I ended up cooking her for four days."

According to the Los Angeles Times, David Viens gave the confession to police as he lay in a hospital bed in March 2011, after jumping from an 80-foot cliff when he learned he was a suspect in his wife's disappearance.

David Veins told police that on Oct. 18, 2009, he taped his wife's mouth and bound her hands and feet with duct tape. The next morning, she was dead. He said: "For some reason I just got violent."

Viens said he stuffed his wife's body in a 55-gallon drum of boiling water. He then hid his wife's skull at his mom's house, reports the Daily Mail.

However, a police search of his mom's house and his restaurant Thyme Contemporary Cafe turned up nothing.

His daughter Jacqueline told jurors that her father had previously joked that cooking someone was a good way to get rid of the body. She also testified her father told her that he tied up her mother and taped her mouth, which led to her death.
