Cannibal Cop Gilberto Valle Said Movie "The Mask" Inspired Him

Cameron Diaz, star of "The Mask," is said to be the inspiration behind cannibal cop Gilberto Valle's obsession with bondage.

The NYPD policeman was accused of planning to abduct, rape, cook and eat women with other people he had met on an online fetish website.

Valle said when he saw the Jim Carrey comedy in 1994, he started fantasizing about tying up and abducting women.

In the movie, a young Cameron Diaz is abducted and bound.

Valle's lawyer Julia Gatto said in court papers that his "arousal appears to have originated with a scene in the movie, 'The Mask,' in which Cameron Diaz pretends to be abducted and bound."

Gatto said Valle also told his psychiatrist, Park Dietz, that once he was a sophomore in college he had started watching porn, which led him to darker websites that were "a gateway into cannibalism pornography."

The psychiatrist is going to testify that Valle never planned to act on his fantasies.
