Alexander McDonald Sentenced To 30 Years For Rape, Murder Of His Mother

British man Alexander McDonald was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison after raping and killing his own mother.

In September 2014, the 27-year-old reportedly became intoxicated after drinking a substantial amount of alcohol at a wine tasting event at his job, Inquisitr reported. He then consumed cocaine, before arriving at his home in Somerset, England, which he shared with his mother. He engaged in a sexual conversation over text messages with a male friend, which apparently left him in a “state of excitement," according to the prosecutor at the trial.

Following the conversation, McDonald entered his mother Catherine's bedroom and stabbed her in the chest with a kitchen knife. He stabbed Catherine, 57, again with a knitting needle and a pair of scissors in her neck. Then, he raped her to “satisfy his sexual urges.”

As his mother bled to death, McDonald wrapped a cable cord around her neck and ended her life. Immediately after, McDonald texted his ex-girlfriend a message that read, “drugs destroy lives.”

McDonald took his mother’s bank card and her car and fled the scene. Shortly after, he crashed the car and was arrested by police. Forensic experts noted that DNA from McDonald was found on his mother’s body along with a discarded condom.

“When told of the death of his mother, Mr. McDonald showed no emotion and throughout his trial and when giving evidence,” the judge said, according to Inquisitr. “His only concerns appear to have been for himself.”

On Tuesday, McDonald was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison by a jury. However, it’s unlikely that he will ever be released.
