Bride Shoots Niece Dead at Bar on Wedding Day

Christina Nicole George-Harvan, who got married on Thursday, allegedly shot and killed her niece Katelyn Francis hours after the wedding at a bar in New Brighton, Pa.

According to police, the shooting stemmed from an argument between George-Harvan (pictured), her new husband Jeremy Harvan and Francis about who would drive them all home from the bar.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Harvan told police that his new bride got a 9 mm Glock handgun out of his truck and shot Francis in the parking lot outside the bar. George-Harvan reportedly told police that she did fire the gun.

Francis, who was shot in the abdomen, died en route to a local hospital.

“Everybody in the bar noticed that there was something going on with the people, but nobody knew exactly what was happening,” witness James Botinovich told CBS Pittsburgh. "The next thing you know we heard someone got shot… looked out, noticed it was right by my car.”

George-Harvan has been charged with homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
