Dalton Hayes,18, and Cheyenne Phillips,13, have been on the run from the police since Jan. 4.

The Leitchfield, Kentucky, couple is accused of stealing cars, forging checks and running from law enforcement in four states (video below).

Hayes reportedly faced charges for burglary and theft in Grayson County, Kentucky from 2014. It's believed the teens took off when Hayes was indicted by a grand jury.

"There's going to come a time when we're not going to see him as an 18-year-old kid," Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins told the Associated Press.

"We're going to see him as someone who's stolen three vehicles with two handguns in them, and the outcome is not going to be good for either one of them if they don't turn themselves in," added Sheriff Chaffins.

Hayes and Phillips have reportedly been dating for about three months. Phillips originally pretended to be 19, according to Hayes' mother Tammy Martin.

However, Martin claims that by the time Hayes realized Phillips was only 13 the young man was already in love with the eighth grader and bought her an engagement ring.

ABC News reports the couple allegedly wrote bad checks at a Walmart in Manning, South Carolina, on Monday.

A 2006 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, allegedly stolen by the teens, was recovered in Henry County, Georgia, on Wednesday, but a Silver 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup was stolen.

Law enforcement authorities believe that truck has guns inside, and that the teens may have headed to Florida.

Because Phillips is 13, Hayes could be charged with kidnapping and additional crimes.
