Black Guerilla Prison Gang Threatens Shootout With Two NYPD Precincts

| by Sean Kelly

The NYPD has received what they are calling “credible threats” towards two different precincts from a prison gang known as the Black Guerilla Family.

On Tuesday, the Sergeants Benevolent Association (SBA), which represents thousands of NYPD sergeants, tweeted about the threat, which was made known by an informant. The SBA said that the gang is threatening to “storm” the 79th and 81st precincts and “shoot it out” with officers.

“Important info re credible attack from a CI: Black Guerilla Family to storm the 079/081 Pct Station Houses & shoot it out with MOS,” the tweet read. In response to the threat, the 81st precinct has reportedly significantly increased their security, and officers have been instructed to work in pairs and always carry their weapons on and off duty.

“Cowardly threats of violence against the brave men and women of our police force will not be tolerated,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in response to the threats. “New York City stands with our police officers in this time of tragedy, as we do every day, and our city will not be intimidated by those spouting hateful, violent messages. We will protect the men and women who protect us.”

It was recently reported that Ismaaiyl Brinsley, the man responsible for the killing of officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos last Saturday, reportedly had ties to the Black Guerilla Family. Ramos and Liu were sitting in their parked car when Brinsley ambushed them and shot them in cold blood.

In the days since the double murder, tensions between the NYPD and Mayor de Blasio have escalated. The SBA, in a tweet sent out Saturday following the killing, placed the blame on the mayor, who had previously shown his support for the protests that followed a grand jury decision not to indict the officer responsible for the death of Staten Island resident Eric Garner.

“The blood of 2 executed police officers is on the hands of Mayor de Blasio. May God bless their families and may they rest in peace,” the union’s tweet read.

Officer Ramos’ funeral will be held on Saturday, the 27th, and Liu’s has yet to be scheduled.
