A Massachusetts babysitter was accused of torturing and kidnapping a toddler, who was found naked and covered in cigarette burns by the side of the road hours later.

Abigail Hanna, 21, abducted toddler Lyndon Albers in November 2015 and was subsequently charged with kidnapping, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault and battery of a child, and breaking and entering in the nighttime.

Albers disappeared from her home during the night on Nov. 20, 2015, and was found six hours later about eight miles from where she disappeared. She was naked, bruised, and covered with cigarette burns. Her head was also shaved.

Hanna was arrested the following day and later sent to a mental health facility due to “life-threatening” psychiatric problems that included auditory hallucinations and suicidal thoughts, according to her lawyer, reported Daily Mail. The mental health issues reportedly caused a delay in the progression of her trial.

“The frustrating part is the amount of time it's taking,” the district attorney's office spokeswoman Carrie Kimball Monahan said, reported Daily Mail. “The bottom line as we continue to move forward on this case, we are ensured that Ms. Hanna is held and will remain so until we can get a proper evaluation of her.”

According to Daily Mail, the young woman had a history of suicide attempts and was showing psychotic symptoms while being held prior to her arraignment. She also suffered a miscarriage a month before the abduction.

Hanna is due in court on Feb. 11.
