Baby Body Parts Discovered In Bangkok Package Destined For U.S.

The body parts of several babies were found in a package being delivered to the United States, according to a statement made by Thai police on Sunday.

A baby’s head, several feet and “sheets of skin” taken from an adult with a large tattoo were discovered on Sunday after the staff at a Bangkok parcel company scanned the package and revealed its contents. The parts were not taken from one body, according to Police Major General Chawalit Prasopsin.

“They have been sent for forensic examination to confirm if they were from babies who died after delivery or in the womb,” Chawalit said.

Lieutenant General Ruangsak Jaritake, assistant to the national police commissioner, noted that the box also contained an adult heart with stab marks.

Chawalit added that the body parts were found preserved in containers filled with formaldehyde solution and suggested that they might be used for educational purposes - however, the box was reportedly labeled “children’s toys." Although local media reported that the package was destined for a Las Vegas address, police reported that they are still investigating and declined to reveal a specific destination.

According to Ruangsak, two Americans suspected of trying to send the body parts fled Thailand on Sunday through a checkpoint in the east of the country.

“As soon as we have results,” Ruangsak said, “we will contact the FBI.”

In 2012, Thai police arrested a British citizen who roasted and covered six human fetuses in gold leaf, then stuffed them into travel bags at a hotel room in Bangkok. According to detectives, the corpses were supposed to be sent to Taiwan and used as part of a black magic ritual. A photo from that incident can be seen below, but be warned: It's graphic.
