A California teenager allegedly recruited two females to repeatedly beat his pregnant girlfriend into a miscarriage, according to an announcement by authorities on May 10.

The teen, 17-year-old Angel Contreras, will be charged as an adult for felonies ranging from attempted murder to assault and kidnapping, KTLA reports.

His accomplices, 18-year-old Claudia Rodriguez and 19-year-old Candy Patricio are also facing the same charges.

On March 4, the two women punched Contreras’ unidentified girlfriend in the stomach while she walked to his home.

Three weeks later, the duo attacked again and attempted to kidnap her after she walked off a bus with Contreras.

It is unclear what condition the girlfriend and her baby are in.

This is not the first time two teenage girls have captured national attention after beating someone up because of a boy.

In April 2016, 16-year-old Amy Inita Joyner-Francis of Delaware was killed when two girls beat her to death in a school restroom over a guy, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

"Several female students were involved in a physical altercation approximately 8:15 a.m. this morning in a main floor female restroom just about the time that classes were set to begin for the day," Howard High School of Technology principal Stanley Spoor said at the time. "The 16-year-old student was seriously injured and succumbed to her injuries."

From government officials to strangers alike, the country was shocked by the tragedy.

“I am so upset a young lady lost her life today," Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams said.

“My heart bleeds for the family,” he added.

Shortly after the incident, "RIPAmy" began trending on Twitter, with many shocked such a young lady could lose her life over a boy.

“To the girls who fought over a BOY.. realize you have to live EVERYDAY with the thought of TAKING AWAY a daughter from her family... #RIPAmy,” said one Twitter user.

“Highschool drama should never lead to the loss of a life, prayers go out to the family that lost such a young soul today #ripamy,” added another.
