Law enforcement officials arrested a mother in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 15 after she allegedly shot her 4-year-old son in his back. The boy is currently in critical condition.
According to Officer Ralph Woolfolk, Patricia Todd, 41, has since been charged with aggravated assault, tampering with evidence as well as cruelty to children.
Officers believe Todd intended to fire the gun. Police are still unsure as to whether or not she intended to harm her child, Jamari Todd.
“The definition of aggravated assault in the State of Georgia mentions intent,” said Woolfolk. “Investigators believe the actions of Miss Todd merit those charges at this time.”
