An Arkansas gynecologist, who has practiced medicine for more than 30 years, was arrested this week for video taping his patients without their knowledge.
Dr. Paul Becton Jr., 68, was arrested in Newport after a two-week investigation
A patient reported to police earlier this month that Becton had “produced his cellular telephone and took photographs of her pubic region and buttocks” during her appointment at his Paragould practice, according to an arrest affidavit.
Becton was charged with five counts of video voyeurism after police seized his cell phone. Although Becton thought he had deleted the images, computer experts were able to extract them from the hard drive, Medical Daily reported.
The victim confirmed that the X-rated images were of her body and were taken without her consent.
Police suspect Becton has had many more victims.
Before working in Paragould, Becton practiced in Rogers, Bentonville and Little Rock.
"When a woman goes to the doctor, she should expect that her privacy not be violated," Scott Ellington, second judicial district prosecutor, told KAIT8.
The Arkansas Medical Board was notified of the allegations.
Women who believe they might have been a victim are asked to contact the Arkansas State Police or the Paragould Police Department.
