A man in Arizona who was arrested and booked into jail after being accused of sexually abusing a four-year-old, attempted to defend himself by telling police officers that the girl had a crush on him.

The victim’s father caught Stephen Nelson, 19, in his daughter’s room where the two were watching a movie, according to a court document.

“The victim stood up and her pants were around her ankles,” wrote the arresting officer in his report.

The father notified police who came and arrested Nelson after questioning him and the father.

Nelson alleged that the child had grabbed his hand and forced him to touch her private parts, stated the arresting officer’s report.

According to the father, his daughter told him about Nelson’s actions, including that Nelson had taken photographs of some of her private parts in addition to touching her inappropriately.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for the house and found a camera matching the description given by the father.

Nelson faces charges of sexual conduct with a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor and molestation of a child.
