On Halloween, Sofia Santa-Cruz was doing her mother’s makeup at Blue Mercury Spa in Gaithersburg, Maryland, but her coworker, Luz Lemonfield, was allegedly up to no good.
Surveillance footage (shown below) allegedly shows Lemonfield pouring a chemical beauty product into Santa-Cruz’s water bottle.
"And as I take the bottle of water and I start drinking, I just felt entire burn in my throat; all the way down I felt it. I couldn't breathe,” Santa-Cruz told Fox 2 Now.
Santa-Cruz began vomiting and called the police. She said she believes it was attempted murder and thinks she might know what she ingested.
"Sulfur, zinc, acid and more acid, alcohol," she said. "It’s basically a drying lotion, which means it dries an area of your face from acne, it just dries it up. So imagine pouring that into your system, you're drying your throat, your entire throat up, or your stomach... She tried to kill me, that's all I know.”
Once she was in handcuffs, Lemonfield allegedly told police officers, “Well, I guess it didn't work then.”
Lemonfield has been charged with assault, reckless endangerment and attempted poisoning, WJLA reported. She faces up to 50 years in prison.
