95-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Tasered By Police

A 95-year-old man died early Saturday after a confrontation with Illinois police in which he was shocked with a stun gun and hit with beanbag rounds.

John Warna was reportedly threatening staff with a cane and metal shoehorn when police arrived Friday night at the Victory Centre nursing home in Park Forest, just south of Chicago.

Authorities were called by a private ambulance transport service, which stated that Warna was combative.

Police tasered Warna and shot beanbag round at him in order to subdue him.

The police say he was conscious after the incident. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he later died.

State investigators are now looking into the man’s death. An autopsy is pending.
