A 95-year-old man died early Saturday after a confrontation with Illinois police in which he was shocked with a stun gun and hit with beanbag rounds.

John Warna was reportedly threatening staff with a cane and metal shoehorn when police arrived Friday night at the Victory Centre nursing home in Park Forest, just south of Chicago.

Authorities were called by a private ambulance transport service, which stated that Warna was combative.

Police tasered Warna and shot beanbag round at him in order to subdue him.
