4-Year-Old Starts Fire in Shreveport, Louisiana Business

| by Michael Allen

Authorities believe that a fire at a Shreveport, Louisiana business on Thursday morning was intentionally set by a four-year-old child (whose name has not been released).

According to firefighters, the child set fire to a mattress inside the business (a transportation or shipping company). Fortunately, firefighters say they were able to extinguish the fire quickly and no injuries were reported.

Assistant Fire Chief, Scott Wolverton said that an officer with the department's fire prevention division did speak with the child's parents. However, because of Louisiana state law, any child under the age of 10 cannot be held responsible for such action and cannot be prosecuted.
