A teenage mom from North Carolina has been charged with killing her infant son in an alleged physical attack.

Daniela Villarreal, 17, appeared excited to bring her baby boy into the world. She posted numerous Facebook statuses sharing her ultrasound photos and growing baby bump. The child was finally born Dec. 11, 2014, and his name was Luis Miguel Jr.

The happiness was short lived, however, as paramedics received a phone call at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday morning about an unresponsive child on the 2200 block of Canterwood Drive.

An ambulance rushed to the scene and took baby Luis to Carolinas Medical Center-University, but they were too late. The baby was only 26 days old.

The Charlotte Observer reported that the baby died as a result of a physical assault carried out by the teen mom. Villarreal is now facing charges of murder and felony child abuse following an interview with police.

The Daily Mail reported that in mid September, Villarreal posted a status on Facebook in which she expressed frustration over not being able to work or take classes due to her pregnancy.

“Can’t wait til this little Boy comes and Im able to do what i want!!” the post stated. “I want to be successful in life!!”
