A 10-year-old New York City boy, who was arrested for trying to set a Brooklyn store on fire and robbing an elderly woman, was reportedly on his way to becoming one of New York's youngest gang members.

The boy, who lives with his family in a Brooklyn homeless shelter, was arrested on arson charges after setting fire to merchandise in a discount store as part of an initiation into the Stone Crips gang on Tuesday.

He and another boy were also arrested Monday for assaulting a 67-year-old woman and stealing her purse in broad daylight. According to CBS, a 4-year-old boy was with them during the mugging.

After the boy's release on Tuesday, he went right to the Deals discount store and attempted to set it on fire.

The suspect's neighbor told the Daily News, "He's the worst kid in New York City, not just Brooklyn."
