Cops Take Smiling Selfie In Front Of Burning Home (Video)

| by Michael Allen

Two Nassau County police officers were filmed taking a two-person selfie in front of a burning home in the suburb of Uniondale in Long Island, New York, on Jan. 5 (video below).

According to WNBC, as the fire destroyed the home, one of the selfie cops told a bystander, who was also taking a selfie, to leave the area.

"It's disgusting," one neighbor told the news station. "I don't like that because it shows no concern about the people in the neighborhood."

A second neighbor added: "I don't think it was appropriate for the peace officers to be behaving like that."

The first neighbor said: "People in the neighborhood just lost a house, and you're going to sit there taking selfies."

But the homeowners, who are now homeless, were fine with the officers taking a selfie during their family disaster because they're a law enforcement family.

The Nassau County Police Department expressed concerned about the incident: "The contents of this video are very concerning to the department and are currently under investigation. If these officers are found to be in violation of any department rules and regulations, they will be appropriately disciplined."

"I don't believe all officers are like that," said the first neighbor. "I believe there's just a few that does this kind of stuff."

Actually, this type of police picture-taking is more common than people might think.

KMOV reported in November 2016 that a police officer posed over a dead body with a "thumbs up" sign in a photo that had been taken in August 2016.

In September 2014, police in Istanbul, Turkey, took a selfie while a suicide happened.

Twitter user Fuat Kircaali posted the picture of the cops and the man's suicide with this caption: "Turkish cops took a selfie as the man committed suicide by jumping from Istanbul Bosphorus bridge."

In May 2015, two Kansas City police officers posed for pictures under some graffiti on a stop sign that read: "cops stop murdering," reported WDAF.
