When he was leaving work on July 17, a police officer in Fayetteville, North Carolina, discovered several handwritten notes on his patrol vehicle, thanking him for his service to the community.

"Thank you for your sacrifices! God Bless you!" one note reads.

Another thanks the officer for his service.

"Thank you for ALWAYS coming when we call," reads a third.

The Fayetteville Police Department posted about the display, saying Officer J. Wall discovered people posting the notes when returning to his vehicle after getting off work at his second job at Best Buy, according to WBTV.

"This is yet another example of the outpouring of support from the community and we cannot thank the Fayetteville community enough for the continued support," the department's Facebook page reads.

The citizens who posted the notes reportedly asked Wall if they could pray together with him. "Which he was honored to participate in," according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

Several police officers have been killed in attacks during 2016. The most recent ones came earlier in July with the deaths of three officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and five officers in Dallas, reports WJW.
