A Florida mother is up in arms after she discovered department store JC Penny sells a shirt with what she considers to be a questionable statement on it.
Rita Richardson spoke to WPTV about the sleeveless shirt in question that reads “Suns out, guns out” in reference to muscles.
“I did a double take when I saw the ad for this shirt right on the front page,” Richardson said. According to her, the shirt is sending another message to those who read it.
“I just thought it was sad that a major retailer like JC Penny would want its brand associated with something that advocates, glorifies gun violence,” Richardson said.

She continued saying she was a loyal shopper at the retail store.
“That’s why I read their ad and looked for sales,” she said, “but they could just give this some more attention.”
She added, “Well, I would hope they would take it off the shelves immediately.” She said she knew that people like to use clothes to express themselves.

Upon hearing the story, many took to Facebook to voice their concerns and comments.
“Is this a joke?!” wrote one user. “It’s a tank top for guys. It obviously is referring to biceps. Has this lady not ever seen a guy flex and say ‘welcome to the gun show’?!”
