Chinese Man Will Likely Die From Burns Suffered During Attack On Pregnant Girlfriend

| by Jonathan Wolfe

Pregnant Chinese woman Xu Fan is in the hospital today after her boyfriend dragged her out to his car in the middle of the night and set her on fire. The attack backfired, though, as the boyfriend ended up suffering even more serious burns than Fan and is not expected to survive.

Xu Fan, 21 and Li Moulian, 36, moved in together six months ago following a one-night stand that left Fan pregnant. Though the couple reportedly seemed happy on the surface, Moulian was clearly concealing his actual feelings.

On the night of the attack, Moulian dragged Fan through the street and shoved her into his car. He then tied a gas tank to the woman. Police responded to the scene after neighbors heard Fan screaming as she was dragged on the ground. As the officers approached the vehicle, Moulian set Fan on fire.

Fan was pulled from the car by police, but officers had to use a fire extinguisher to put out the flames scorching her body. Moulian became trapped in the car as well, and suffered even more severe burns than Fan.

Both people were rushed to a nearby hospital. Incredibly, both Fan and her unborn child are expected to survive the attack. Moulian, on the other hand, is in critical condition and is not expected to make it.

In a cruel twist of fate, Fan and Moulian are being treated in hospital beds positioned right next to each other.
